Barry Sherrill, co-owner of Apex-based AIM Group Two promotional products, and member of the board of directors and a volunteer group chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Fly-In and Sport Aviation Convention, has been named a co-chair of Operation Thirst for the Experimental Aircraft Association’s international convention, AirVenture Oshkosh. This major convention, currently underway, draws over 650,000 attendees from 70 nations, and requires over 4000 volunteers to help it run smoothly.

Oshkosh is the most significant event within the fly-in community, both in size and scope,” said Mr. Sherrill. “Co-chairing Operation Thirst for this convention is a real honor and a responsibility I take seriously. The volunteers, spread over many miles, are guiding aircraft in to safe landings, handling crowd control and so forth, and they have no way to get drinks or food except from our team. They rely on us to have enough, in the right places, at the right times, for hundreds of them.”

Operation Thirst is a labor-intensive team responsible for purchase, preparation and deliveries of drinks and food to the many, many volunteers in action from 7am to dusk. In addition to AirVenture Oshkosh and the Mid-Atlantic Fly-In, Mr. Sherrill is also active with the annual fly-in season’s kick-off event, Sun ‘N Fun (Lakeland, FL). He is very active in the local Apex business community, where he is known for providing small businesses with high quality promotional pieces in the small, affordable, quantities appropriate for their needs and budgets.
