Cary-based Vanguard Homes is pleased to announce their participation in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s WaterSense Pilot Program. Vanguard is one of only five builders in the country selected for participation. In 2009, Vanguard will construct approximately 35 to 50 homes designed to meet the WaterSense program’s building specifications. The WaterSense program makes it easy for Americans to save water and protect the environment. WaterSense labeled new homes are designed to reduce water consumption by setting criteria for both indoor and outdoor water use. As a WaterSense builder, a Vanguard home will be about 20 percent more water efficient than an average home. It will achieve this water efficiency through several technology options and will be independently certified.
