Apex Town Council to Vote on Parking Funding

The Apex Town Council will be meeting tonight to vote on funding for the purchase and improvement of property near the downtown area for additional parking. Parking has been an issue in downtown Apex for years, compounded recently by news that renovations to the Apex Police station house would require use of two large public parking lots just off Salem Street. Businesses have complained, with one business — Nautilus Fitness Center — closing in part, according to the owner, due to the parking problem. Another item on the agenda is Lee Smiley, Director of Finance, detailing Q1 2008-2009 financing for the Town of Apex. Town Council meetings are open to the public and include a public forum section for feedback from attendees. Tonight’s meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the Apex Town Hall, 73 Hunter Street and Town Campus. A complete meeting agenda is available online here.
