Community-oriented certified financial planner James M. Richardson, CFP®, ChFC®, has published “Retirement Planning Strategies,” the second in a series of free podcasts on financial planning. In the podcast, Richardson discusses what types of retirement planning strategies work best with regard to balancing committed expenses with targeted savings, a balance that he points out means lifestyle changes. Additionally, Richardson explains what type of investment balance helps survive turbulent times like today’s market troubles. The three-minute audio presentation is available online here. (Quicktime required.)

“Any one strategy will get you — if you switch all the bonds, one day the bonds will go down. If you switch all the cash, one day you can’t get anything out of the interest rate,” Richardson said, adding, “If you go to real estate, you see where we are right now.”

According to Richardson, a strategy that diversifies things, that gives an individual a lot of investments works better because the investor always has something that works.

Boasting almost 20 years experience in financial planning, Richardson helps clients review and understand their entire financial picture and build a long-term plan designed to meet their individual dreams and goals. He developed this free podcast series to assist the general public with understanding basic concepts of retirement planning.
