Expedite Group, a national corporate concierge company, wrapped over 1200 holiday gifts for their clients. This is the fourth year Expedite Group has offered this annual service. Clients bring their unwrapped gifts to a designated room in their office and the Expedite Group ‘elves’ wrap all day free of charge. The client returns to pick up their beautifully wrapped gifts. Expedite Group employees really enjoy this time of year. Account Manager, Laurie Dinwiddie, says “It’s very rewarding to see the reaction of our clients when picking up their gifts – they realize how much time we’ve saved them during the holiday season.” Read more
Treasury Announces TARP Investment in GMAC

The Treasury Department today announced yesterday it will purchase $5 billion in senior preferred equity with an 8% dividend from GMAC LLC as part of a broader program to assist the domestic automotive industry in becoming financially viable. Under the agreement GMAC must be in compliance with the executive compensation and corporate governance requirements of Section 111 of the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act, as well as enhanced restrictions on executive compensation. NC DMV License and Theft Bureau First to Receive National Law Enforcement Accreditation

The North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles License and Theft Bureau has become the first DMV agency in the United States to obtain national accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies Inc. The CALEA accreditation is considered a highly-prized recognition of law enforcement excellence. Read more

A Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuit giveaway will be advertised during the Chick-fil-A Bowl broadcast, which airs nationally on ESPN at 7:30 p.m. (EST) on Dec. 31. The invitations to receive a free chicken biscuit with any purchase will be distributed at participating Chick-fil-A restaurants beginning Jan. 1 (while supplies last), and can be redeemed through March 28, 2009. Eligible participants who visit a participating Chick-fil-A location from 10:30 AM until 6:00 PM on January 1, 2009 and make any purchase will receive an offer, while supplies last, redeemable for one (1) free chicken biscuit on a subsequent visit to participating Chick-fil-A locations. In Apex, there is a Chick-fil-A in Beaver Creek off Highway 55 and nearby in Cary at Wavery Place off Tryon Road.

Participating photographers will submit portraits of local children, ages 18 months to 14 years, for online voting to determine the city finalist. North Carolina residents attending a college, university, technical institute or community college have until Jan. 21, 2009, to apply for one of 100 paid state government internships available for summer 2009. The State Government Internship Program offers students real-world experience in a wide range of state government workplaces. Internships provide opportunities for students to work in their chosen field and to consider careers in public service. (NYSE:CBE) — the parent company of Apex employer Cooper Hand Tools — announced that it expects fourth quarter results of $0.70 to $0.80 earnings per share, exclusive of restructuring charges. Silver Alert in Effect for Cary Woman

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons has issued a Silver Alert for a Cary woman Tuesday tonight. Bettie Fontaine Thompson, 59, was last seen at 200 Wren Drive, Cary. Thompson is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment. She was wearing a leather coat, white and Brown sweater, dark brown pants and brown shoes when she disappeared. She is described as white, standing 5 feet, 5 inches tall and weighing 230 lbs. Thompson has shoulder length brown hair and hazel eyes and was last seen traveling east on Wren Drive in a 2002 gray Acura with North Carolina license plate XVS-4452. Anyone with information about Thompson should call the Cary Police Department at 919-469-4012.
